Hello Everyone,
I have been walking about three miles sometimes more ( I walk 5 days a week) for the last 3.5 months and watching my food intake. I am a newbie to exercise and I have lost 25 lbs so far. I wanted to buy a workout video that would help me with toning. I am not into the gym for some reason and I do not even know why I am intimidated by the gym but I am just not a gym person at this time. Maybe later. I don't know what video I can do to take me to the next level. I want something that will not only increase my physically activity, make me fit and toned, but I want something that will give me energy and continue to help me ( I like the idea of walking up stairs and not getting winded after three flights). Any ideas, all are welcome. Thanks, ladies in advance.

Huge congrats!! That is awesome!!
I would look at Pilates, Yoga & Tai Bo. Pilates/Yoga for stretching and getting a toned 'core' but Tai Bo for cardio. Also, maybe buy some 5lb dumbells and do some weight training at home.
1Thanks, this is the first time in my life that I decided to get in shape so I am feeling my way but I really want to tone. Thank you so much.
2I only workout at home, and for toning I'm using "The Hollywood Trainer: 21 Day Total Body Workout". There are 2 circuits to choose from, and each one is only 30 minutes. It's very basic weights, squats, lunges, crunches, with very short cardio bursts interspersed. I use 3-pound dumbbells, and have been seeing great results. The website collage video has preview videos of it's DVDs, if you want to get a sample of the instructor's style. I just love this video!
3awesome wren, I might even look into it!
4kikitwist, I also like your idea about yoga for stretching. I don't seem to have the patience for yoga, so I do a 15-30 minute stretch DVD session a few times a week. (Right now I'm into Cathe Total Body Stretching, because there are 15 minute segments (3 choices) and two of them use a stability ball, which I love.
5The Hollywood Trainer only stretches for 2-3 minutes, and I feel like sometimes I need more. I love stretching!
I agree! I only do about 30mins TOPS of Yoga. I am doing the Yoga for Dummies one right now. I am a beginner. WOOT!
6Thank you ladies, you have given me food for thought, I am going to order the video tomorrow. I don't know about yoga, I was think pilates. I haven't decided between the two. I wanted to continue my walking and add in extra exercise. I think I could use a little more.
7First of all congrats! That's such an accomplishment. I'd also suggest some power yoga or pilates videos. I actually enjoy doing The Firm Power Yoga because it leaves me feeling energized and also give me a good workout. Winsor pilates is a great place to start with pilates. Hope this helps!
8Thank you Alexisis!
9I use Netflix to rent my movies, and I find it's a great way to "test-drive" fitness videos I'd think of buying.
